Symposium Information

Leading edge information on working with Latino families, individuals and couples in a mental health context will be presented by the Latino Family Therapy Program as part of the 13th Annual Conference of the Latino Behavioral Health Institute.  The Symposium will take place October 1, and a series of workshops throughout the Conference from October 2-4.  All events will be held at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott.

for Doctoral Students in Psychology

This Symposium will feature the dynamic and unique components of the Latino Family Therapy Program at Phillips Graduate Institute and the California Family Counseling Center (Encino, CA), a training program for masters and doctoral students in psychology.

Topics will include:

  • Family systems assessment with Latinos
  • Clinical supervision in Spanish
  • Co-therapy treatment teams
  • In vivo supervision
  • Working with immigrant and monolingual Spanish families
 
Components of the training model will be described and outcome findings from a three-year evaluation project funded by The California Endowment will be presented. All attendees will receive a complete manual of this training program for replication in academic and clinical settings. Approved by BBS for 7CEU for MFT and LCSW; pending approval by MCEP for psychologists.







The Latino Family Therapy Program at Phillips Graduate Institute and the California Family Counseling Center (Encino, CA), will present six workshops based on the unique components of its training and clinical program as developed during the past 28 years.
